Kelly Sampson & Chinook

chinook
Chinook has turned into a great dog. At first I did not want to let him outside of my control for training but Kelly was wise and could see where this aggressive dog was going. You have helped to make him a great pet and a wonderful buddy for Kelly and I. Well appreciated. I can take him anywhere. We have traveled to NB, NS, and NFLD with Chinook and stayed in cabins and hotels as well as on the NFLD Ferry and of course in the kayak. He is 10 months old in these pictures and doing great.

Dale Dewar & Maddie

Dear Duke,
I have witnessed a miracle! Maddie, my 3 year old Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever has been transformed. People who knew Maddie before she was “Duked” now use adjectives such as unbelievable, unreal, amazing, awesome, and “is that really the same dog?”
Maddie used to be dominate, assertive, harassing, controlling, noisy and objectionable. She sounds terrible but while being all of the above she was really only high energy and in many ways delightful.
After just 3 weeks of training Maddie was a changed dog. However, the start was difficult with Duke admitting that Maddie was one of the more stubborn dogs he had seen … so after our first lesson I was on my own and a great battle for control began between us and honestly for the first couple of days I really thought Maddie was going to win. By our second lesson with Duke, just one week later progress had been made. And then one day Maddie conceded, I had control and our relationship strengthened and a bond was finally there.
Maddie is now totally obedient and the thing I notice most is the change to her personality … she no longer barks when she wants something, she doesn’t harass my guests to play Frisbee, she is quiet (in fact I have never been able to teach her the quiet command because she doesn’t bark when she shouldn’t), she doesn’t chase cars any more and she has stopped barking at doors which was her most annoying quirk.
Maddie and I are grateful to Duke and his training techniques … Maddie is now a real pleasure to live with and harmony reins … many thanks!

On August 9th of 2007, Chad and myself had adopted Helen Keller
(H.K.), a 2-3 year old deaf boxer/American bulldog mix. We knew that training her was going to be a challenge but we didn’t realise how much. We figured a couple of hand signals and we would be on our way. However, this proved to be a little more difficult than we had
expected. She is a very energetic dog and initially we had no idea how to communicate with her. At times, it was very frustrating being in the same room with her, as she was always chewing on things and even jumping on the living room table.
After having called a few different trainers it started to sound like she was going to be limited to a leash for the rest of her life. This is not something that we wanted for her! It was at this point that we contacted Duke. It was apparent in the intro session with Duke that this was going to be the way to train H.K. We were able to set-up goals with Duke; one of which was being able to have her off a leash and still be in control of her. With a lot of practice we began meeting these goals quickly. After a couple weeks, H.K. was a different dog all together and we are now able to enjoy her a lot more! Just about everyone that sees her comments on how obedient and attentive she is. Throughout the training, Duke has been a great help, even calling to see how H.K. is doing and seeing if we have any
questions. You can really tell that he does care about his work and clients. When I have any questions or concerns I know that I can always call him to get a prompt answer.

Thanks Duke, it is true that you can train any dog……..even deaf dogs!!!

Sincerely,
Amy, Chad and H.K.!

Thanks to your training…

Hey Duke:

Just wanted to let you know how happy we’ve been with the training and the progress we have seen from Mika. Mika’s always been very well behaved, but the Shiba Inu breed has a strong instinct to chase everything (balls, squirrels, leaves, etc). For this reason, our breeder warned us beforehand that Mika would always be a leash dog. However, thanks to your e-collar training and after a few classes over a couple of weeks, we’re having a great time walking and playing outside without a leash. It’s great to expand her freedom while having the comfort that we can get her attention when needed. Also, your classes offer a lot of great practical tips and your love of dogs really shows through. Thanks for everything.
