Children’s Bite Prevention Seminar with Professional Dog Trainer,

Dogs are largely misunderstood by humans, especially children. To a dog, biting is a normal way of communicating when nothing else has worked. Too often we hear that a dog has bitten a person ‘out of nowhere,’ when more often than not, we have simply failed to read the dog’s signs of discomfort before it happened.

Our children’s bite prevention seminars focus on fun, informative, and interactive activities to teach children how to read a dog’s body language and warning signs, as well as learn how to properly interact with family and strange dogs.

During the presentation we discuss the Do’s and Don’ts of bite prevention, body language and communication, the Yellow Ribbon Campaign, how to greet a strange dog with an owner (WAIT), and how to avoid a strange dog without an owner (Be A Tree). Children get to practice their new knowledge with a fun interactive lesson with my child-friendly dog Buddy and hear the story of how he lost his leg, as a cautionary tale.

Sessions last 30 minutes, to an hour, depending on the number of children. Every child leaves with essential knowledge, take-home information on everything we discussed during our session, and a bite prevention word search.

Lazy Dog Trainer II, The EAZY Way To Stop A Dog From Attacking The Vacuum

There are many different ways to accomplish things in training. There are many different ways to teach a dog basic commands, communicate with them, reward them, correct them, etc. Every dog is different so there isn’t a one size fits all approach to dog training. While most dog trainers become systematic in the way they approach things, the good ones know that not everything works for every dog and sometimes you have to get creative.

The creative part is what drives me in my training. Most of my training is very systematic because the system I follow works and it works very well – most of the time. The situations where something isn’t the best solution for a dog is what keeps dog training exciting for me. But sometimes I can be lazy. What you are about to see is one of those days. The good news is that sometimes you can be lazy and creative. In this video, I discovered a completely hands off approach to getting a dog to be OK around a vacuum. There is nothing better than witnessing complete success while sitting on your butt!

For this “hands off” approach to be successful your dog needs ignition. When the dog is hungry, food motivated and willing to work it becomes active. A dog with ignition lets you become a lazy dog trainer because the dog does all the work. If you don’t have ignition then this will not work.

Hey Ding Ding! Negative Reinforcement In Dog Training And The Real World

I have seen trainers and some people bash negative reinforcement and even get in to emotional fights with people about it. When I ask them if they even know what it is they say, “Well…ummm… its inhumane treatment of dogs. This ignorance literally makes me want to throw up! It has to stop! People are being lied to about training and tools.

For some strange reason, they believe that the only thing in dog training thats ok is “positive reinforcement only”

You need to know the truth! This kind of thinking is a complete lie.

What is the world coming to when you can be fed a load of crap like this and eat it up like candy?

Let me be clear here because I don’t want you to misunderstand what I’m saying.

All Unleashed Potential trainers firmly believe in using positive reinforcement in training BUT we also believe in balance and we are not afraid to tell the truth about dog training. Negative reinforcement is NOT bad at all.

There is also a misconception that if you use negative reinforcement then you are not a positive trainer. This is also a crock of horse crap.
