Dog VS Squirrel / Recall With Distractions

Do you have trouble getting your dog to come when called? If you are going to let your dog off leash then for safety and sanity reasons you should have your dog trained with a rock solid recall!

Seriously, I see people every day letting their dogs off leash and have no control, only to have the dog chase a car or passer by and get hit by a car.

Truth is it’s actually easy to teach a recall. Any breed, any size, any age, any dog can be trained to come when called… EVEN Deaf dogs!

Working Street Corners With Duke Ferguson & Nitro. 2017 IACP After Hours

This is a fun, entertaining video someone recorded of Duke Ferguson working his Dog “Nitro” in the street corners of Missouri, USA.

Watch as Duke and Nitro have a blast working the crowds and how they make this look super easy and fun….BUT…here is a little secret!  Before you watch the video you should know one thing. Shhh!!

Many years ago before becoming a professional dog trainer, Duke Ferguson once had a dog he could not walk or take in to public because of behaviour issues and lack of knowledge in what to do.  YES! This is true!!

After working with several trainers and vet behaviourists with little-to-no success Duke noticed a huge difference and conflict in opinions and methods between trainers. He was even told by a “positive only” trainer to put his dog to sleep.

This was unacceptable advice and it motivated Duke to pursue his passion in training and working with animals.

Now, 30 years later with a ton of application and research, training thousands of dogs, traveling the world attending many dog training schools and training with many world class trainers he has acquired the skills to make things look easy.
