Education on Remote Collars/ E-Collars/Shock collars for Dog Training.

April 18, 2015 By Duke Ferguson 6 Comments

What Happens In The Water??? Do they Shock? Do They Burn? Are they inhumane?

Haters and supporters we love you all !!
Yes , Yes I know its a longer than normal video but its got lots of info in it.
This video is Entertaining and Educational.

In this video Professional Dog Trainer Duke Ferguson Owner / CEO of Unleashed Potential K9 will address false beliefs that e collars shock and burn. This video is for everyone!!
Duke actually puts the strongest e collar he uses on his hands and neck IN THE WATER…..and shows the levels and explains things . He even shows the effect at top level.
In this video Duke gives complimentary information and educates on how e collars can be miss used and what can happen if left on too long as well as what happens using them in the water .

Like e collars or  not,  the information in this video will be of some value to you or at least entertain you.

Shock Collars burn the skin they say!
They shock the body and nervous system they say!
Put that on your Effing neck they say!
Ban them they say!
Inhumane they say!
Put the dog down and not use those tools they say!

Listen up People!

I know common sense is no longer common practice anymore but open your eyes and stand up for the truth.
Do not fall for the lies. Educate yourself and do it now before :they sayers” get their way.

The “They sayers” ( remote collar tool haters) do not even know the truth about the tools and do not understand how to use the tools in training to produce high quality results and happy obedient dogs in a training system.
And.. they do not want to know!

All the Talk is cheap, so keep an open mind and listen to those who actually know about the tools.

Get educated by Experts who use the tools every day and produce amazing results in a system with the tools.

Do your research.
Be real. ALL tools have Pros and Cons… so learn them!

The dogs them selves and the results that follow will show you who is good with the tools and who is not, as well as what systems are best…because not all trainers are alike.

Instead the “Anti e collar, remote collar Extremists” get that narrow minded focus and grow such a hate for the tools and users, then they start bullying pressuring people and lobbying government to ban the tools and even euthanizing dogs if “positive only” wont work.

Im Serious! Its crazy but true! Death before discomfort is real. Clicker train it or kill it is real… Some people still believe the earth is flat as well so get Educated.

Some TV Celebrities who claim to be trainers or “Behaviourists” are really just actors and making a big fuss and creating drama.
Good for ratings but bad for peoples and dogs lives who actually need and want real help.

The Truth is, “they sayers” really don’t know what they are doing except acting and often giving bad advice that kills dogs as well as Bullying others, calling many wonderful kind caring people who love their dogs “inhumaine and abusive” just because of using a tool that “They sayers” don’t like. Instead they try and preach “Positive ONLY”

Is that really positive mindset from the “positive only” believer community? HELL NO!

Why cant we all focus on Learning and growing together!
Put the dislikes, emotions aside and just help!!

What if all trainers actually Start Caring and serving others and really helping the people, helping each other, the dogs and the industry and focusing on higher level and more education instead of just serving them selves?

Why be consumed with negative emotion, hate and spread lies and bash the tools and others who use the tools?
It makes no sense but its a daily thing.

Educating truth is much better than Hating don’t you agree?

Sadly “They Sayers-tool haters” don’t want to learn the truth.
They don’t want to learn the pros to using the tool in a system to get 5x the results in a positive results kind of Way!
They seem to just want to bash, bully and ban, due to emotion and ignorance

Get educated people!
Be open minded People!
Try your best to use common sense…because its not common anymore.

Here is a video that will hep educate on a few real points of (remote collars, e collars, shock collars, vibration collars or what ever ya want to call them)
Try not so smile or laugh!!!

Enjoy this!
and

SHARE THIS IF YOU:
1. IF you are an advocate for e collars Share it!
2. If you want to see the industry get real and stop banning! Share it!
3. If you want to see the negativity Stop! Share it!
4. If you want to see trainers start caring about others and bettering them selves.  Share it!
5. If you want to see trainers with serving mindsets not selfish mindsets.  Share it!
6. If you want to see more higher Education and not negativity and hate! Share it!

If you don’t share you probably don’t care. 🤪

Obedience Training Maintenance ” Working For A Living”

April 18, 2015 By Duke Ferguson 2 Comments

Obedience Training Maintenance ” Working For A Living” Duke when can I feed from the dish again?

For those who know me know  I never feed from a dog dish and that I’m an advocate for making the dog work for its meals.  To me it only makes sense,  in the wild the dog must hunt for a living. Hunting is work, working the body and the  brain.  Hunting and searching is a natural instinct in the dog and if the dog does not want to hunt then it does not eat because food like rabbits and mice do not come to the dog and sacrifice them selves.

BUT

In the domestic home most  family pet dogs  get daily food for free as well as all other desired things.  The owner goes to work for a living and brings home all the dogs needs. The dog gets everything it wants and it does not have to work for anything. This is in turn creates spoiled rich kid syndrome or puts the dog in a retired millionarre frame of mind.

Who is the boss and who is the slave? LOL!

I created this video for my advanced private coaching clients and my Dog Training Genesis members… but it will be of great value to all who watch it.

Here are some tips on when you can feed from the dog dish again and how you should do it to maintain the dogs obedience and satisfy the dogs instincts.

Jude’s Rehabilitation

April 15, 2015 By Duke Ferguson Leave a Comment

IMG_20150309_200805814

Me and my husband adopted Jude, a Rottweiler-husky mix, two years ago from the humane society. She had separation anxiety, pulled on a leash, and can be aggressive toward other dogs, not knowing how to interact and play. We started working with her alone, which I thought we could handle, until she attacked a smaller breed dog, resulting in euthanasia due to the severe injuries she caused. We had to take action at that point, since putting her down was not an option, so we contacted Camellia.
I have talked to trainers before her and I can say for a fact that no one has made me feel that my dog was going to be in safe hands more than she, so we sent her for the board and train program. Camellia let me know that she was doing great everyday, which made me feel like I was part of the training process. She also analyzed the issues with Jude, what caused them, and the best way to solve them; she socialized her with different types and sizes of dogs and Jude learned to follow commands perfectly.
After we got her back, Camellia spent 4-5 hours teaching us what we needed to do next and how to continue her training at home. We went to our first group class and I’m happy to say that Jude did amazing; I’m so proud of her. We could not have done this without Camellia at unleashed potential in the Valley; it was absolutely worth it having a healthy good dog back.

My Last Dog…

April 13, 2015 By Guy Lapierre Leave a Comment

My last dog…

No,…that is not a statement. I have not sworn off dogs and will most certainly welcome another with open arms when our 4 canine family members cross over the Rainbow Bridge.

This isn’t a rant either,…rather an attempt to point out something that some dog owners often get hung up on.

I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve heard a dog owner, while in conversation about their current dog, say….”my last dog”, right before listing traits their last dog had that they wish their new dog possessed.

First things first…unless you extracted DNA from your last dog, cloned that canine and raised it to have the same life experiences as the first dog (which, by the way…is impossible), you will never again have a dog just like your last dog. The dog you now have may look like that dog, or remind you of that dog in some way…but it is not that dog….so please stop focusing on their differences and comparing the two.

Sleeping at the beach.
Sleeping at the beach.

When reflecting on the memories of our prior dogs we often forget about the work we did during the puppy years, how much work our parents put into that dog, how we may have had more time (and energy) before the kids came along, how much energy they had when they were younger (we remember their older, mellow/chill years). We remember the good times we had with them, during a different time of our lives…and yet we expect a new dog to be just like them at this point in our lives, after having totally different life experiences.

If your dog is named Max, III…and he isn’t royalty,…you may be having a hard time letting go of “your last dog” (and the one before that).

If you were to remarry after the passing of your spouse, saying “my last wife or husband…” before making a comparison in favour of the latter, it would not go over well with your new spouse. Even though your dog can’t understand, it’s not really fair to compare your current dog to your last dog. Each dog, even if they are the same breed, are individuals and they have had their own unique life experiences that have molded them into the dog that they are today.

I have 3 shepherds….and each one is unique. In fact, none of our dogs, or any of the rescue dogs that have come through our home have ever been “just like” another dog. Of course, some share breed traits, but their personalities are all completely different.

If your new dog needs some training to help them become more obedient, to learn some manners, or achieve off leash recall… then spend some time, put in the work and at the same time make some memories with “your new dog”…because although some good dogs just happen, some good dogs take a little work, and sometimes we forget the work that we did with “our last dog” that made them so awesome.

Ninja – Siberian Husky

Posted in loving memory of my Siberian Husky, Ninja, who I lost in the fall of 2014. I miss him dearly and  there will never be another dog just like “my last dog”… and that’s OK.

Why not make the best memories possible with your current dog? Contact me to find out how you can unleash their full potential.

Why I Became a Dog Trainer

March 31, 2015 By Guy Lapierre Leave a Comment

My three shepherds: Karma, Sam and Thor.
My three shepherds: Karma, Sam and Thor.

I am frequently asked why I became a dog trainer. The answer is simple really – I love dogs and like to help troubled dogs. As you may imagine, the reasons go deeper than that so let me explain.

A few years ago my wife and I adopted a rescue dog and we named her Karma. She’s a German Shepherd / Bernese Mountain Dog mix that came with some behaviour issues. She was aggressive towards other dogs and would lunge and bark on leash. She is a strong dog and managed to damage my wife’s back to the point that it ended her time as a runner. She ran marathons and wanted a dog to run with and unfortunately the dog we got ended up putting an end to her running instead of becoming a running companion.

I had tried several trainers that categorized themselves as positive only trainers and unfortunately a year of that style of training didn’t help her. I then tried the other end of the spectrum with a trainer that used only corrections and affection was the sole reward. That helped in suppressing the behaviours temporarily but didn’t modify her behaviour. I had all but given up and was reserved to trying to manage her as best as we could until one day she attacked a small dog and drew blood in the process. I gave it one more try and contacted what I would later learn to be a balanced trainer. That trainer was from Unleashed Potential. Within a few weeks we saw great results and Karma was learning to be social and change her ways by applying a balance of reward and corrections. She seemed to finally understand the training process. She is now a wonderful dog and as a result of our success we put our other dogs through the same program.

Heeling with SamWe came to believe so deeply in the Unleashed Potential program that my wife and I started our own rescue and set out to train the dogs that came through rescue before adopting them out. After putting several dogs through the program it became apparent that Duke Ferguson’s system worked for all dogs and it led me to want to help as many dogs as possible. Through the rescue we helped many dogs and began to offer training services to the public.

When the opportunity came to join Unleashed Potential, I jumped at the chance to take intensive training and become part of the team. I went from a customer and a great supporter to a professional dog trainer at Unleashed Potential. With the power of the brand and a great family of trainers I can now reach many more dogs in need and help people overcome using a proven balanced approach.

That is why I became a professional dog trainer – to help as many dogs as possible and to educate the public on the merits of a proven balanced training approach.

If you adopted a rescue that needs work, a puppy that needs a solid foundation, or you have a dog that didn’t get off to a proper start and now needs some guidance, I can help you. I’ve been there and done that several times over.
